MUSIC UNDER NEW YORK: METRO LIVE
The pandemic made people more cautious about riding the subway. The metro stations became empty and subway buskers, who relied on these interactions, lost income and purpose.
So how can we help buskers get back on their feet?
Music Under New York is an organization that employs buskers and gives them designated areas to perform. We’ll partner with them and the MTA to turn stations into an interactive concert, supporting buskers and bringing life back to the metro in a new way.

How it works
Buskers will collaborate to create songs we can use in the stations they usually play in.

- We'll use sensors on various objects found in subway stations that will emit part of the song.
- We'll also make those songs into an album which riders can stream so that the buskers can earn royalties each time the song is played at the stations.

- Riders will get the option to tip when they buy/fill a metro card. Those who tip $2.75 or over earn free rides for the day.
